Here’s another restaurant remake for you, Jefferson Place Steak Bites! This is a remake of an all-time favorite local restaurant! I just had to duplicate the recipe since the restaurant is not longer open. Jefferson Place Steak Bites are perfect as an appetizer or entree (make extra!) or over a green salad – rich and full flavored!

Jefferson Place Steak Bites makes a hearty appetizer and is great for game day watching. Men love game and steak so it’s a win win situation.

Additionally, not only is this a great tasting recipe, it has a lot of nostalgia for me. Let’s get to the details!

Jefferson Place Steak Bites

  1. Steak likes lots of pepper and steak likes lots of salt. I swear it’s the steak, not me!
  2. When cooking this recipe, use a very large skillet. If you don’t have a large skillet, cook the steak bites in batches. You don’t want to crowd the pan.
  3. I prefer a cast iron skillet, but any heavy-bottomed skillet will work. A Dutch oven will work beautifully as well.
  4. Use a good cut of steak. I prefer a ribeye or chuck eye steak. You can use a sirloin, especially if you’re feeding a crowd to keep the cost down. But, I recommend splurging on a better cut is you’re making it for a smaller group.
  5. Sear the outside while leaving the inside at your preferred level of doneness. We like rare to medium-rare steaks the best.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 3 minutes
Total Time: 8 minutes
Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ribeye or chuck eye steak
  • salt and fresh ground black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons butter or more
  • ¼ cups feta cheese crumbled

Instructions

  • Trim meat and cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  • Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper. Toss to coat all the sides.
  • Heat skillet on medium high.
  • Add 2 T butter to the skillet. Allow butter to melt and brown slightly.
  • Place some of the meat in the hot pan in a single layer. Do not crowd pan.
  • Don't stir or disrupt the steak for 30 to 45 seconds. You want it to sear.
  • Flip meat and cook an additional 30 to 45 seconds.
  • You want to sear the outside but remain rare to medium rare on the inside.
  • Remove meat to a platter and cook another batch.
  • When all the meat is cooked pour the pan drippings over the meat.
  • Sprinkle meat with crumbled feta cheese. Serve immediately.

Notes

2 pounds of steak makes approximately 4 entree size servings. It will serve 8 to 10 people if you're serving it as an appetizer. ©CallMePMc.com All images & content are copyright protected.
