I know everyone is looking for healthier alternatives in their diets. I’ve shared my favorites Slowcooker Oatmeal with you before. I like to add different toppings to it to change it up a bit. This is one of my favorite. I prefer to grate a fresh apple, but when I don’t have one I use a spoonful of low sugar applesauce. What are some ways you’re trying to lighten-it-up starting 2013?
I used this basic recipe for Slowcooker Oatmeal.
You can easily change the flavor with a view simple additions.
Toppings: (for one serving)
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutritional yeast (optional it doesn’t change flavor, just adds nutrients)
1/8 tsp flax seed
1/4 c apple sauce or freshly grated apple

How much oats do you use? Sounds like something I would love to make for these cold mornings!
I usually do the 1 cup of Oats using this recipe http://www.callmepmc.com/2012/12/healthy-slowcooker-oatmeal.html
I've been eating slow cooked steel cut oats for awhile. I chop up apples and use agave nectar and cinnamon in it, then cook it overnight. I have been adding a little brown sugar when I put it into my bowl, but I really need to stop doing that!
I really look forward to having breakfast every morning!
Mmmm. Looks nummy! I've made a similar recipe before and it got me hooked on steel cut oats!
Since Jan 1st, I've cut out wheat and sugar from my diet, and I discovered that I LOVE unsweetened Silk almond milk mixed with unsweetened cocoa powder and sugar sub – better than the Swiss Miss packets I once OD'ed on.
Im stopping by from Friendship Friday.
