SAUSAGE DOGS Easy and Delicious

This is one of those easy-to-put-together meals on a night when you have swim, soccer, and scouts!! We also have them when Big Daddy is Smoking Boston Butts for the guys to snack on during the day.

If you keep a well-stocked pantry, you can throw this together quicker than driving through.

Optional Topping

I have started adding caramelized onions to the dogs. To caramelize, simply slice your onions and put them in a skillet with about 1 teaspoon of butter. Cook on low stirring occasionally for 25 to 30 minutes.

They will get brown when they’re ready. Next, layer them on your sausage dog while they’re hot.

smoked sausage
Keep these on hand, always, they’re good for breakfast or for sausage and cheese trays

I split half way through so they’ll cook faster.
buns
You can use hot dog buns, I had these hoagie rolls already so I used them
green onions
I just like the green part of green onions
bbq sauce
I don’t know if Sweet Baby Ray’s is available in your area, but look for it.
It is the best BBQ sauce ev-a! It’s smoky and sweet.

Throw these dogs on the grill or heat them in a 400 degree F oven until
they’re hot and brown a little.

I like to toast the bread while the dogs are cooking.
Then you built the dog.
