The Real Mojito is the traditional mojito flavored simply with mint. It’s a classic!
After posting all the Mojito recipes this Summer, I realized I didn’t have a recipe for a Traditional Mojito on Call Me PMc. Before my mint is gone, I wanted to share with you and more importantly, I wanted to drink one! I must not lie about it!!
Cuba is the birthplace of the Mojito, but the date isn’t exactly clear. It was a favorite libation of Ernest Hemingway. Traditionally, the mojito is made up of five basic ingredients:
- White rum
- Lime juice
- Sparkling water
I hope you enjoy my version, I like to call it the “I’ll have two please!” Mojito because you sure can’t have just one!!
Here’s tip: If you want a Mojito Martini, make this with vodka instead of rum and serve without ice in a martini glass!
The Real Mojito
- 10 mint leaves
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- juice from 1/2 lime
- 1 1/2 oz lime
- 1/2 oz club soda
- mint spring for garnish
- Mix mint leaves, simple syrup, and lime juice in a small mortar bowl; crush mint. Add rum; stir. Pour into a glass with ice. Add a splash of club soda. Garnish with sprig of mint.
