Convenient and easy my Walking Tacos are tasty as well, but the biggest pro of this recipe is that all the kids love them! Each portion is so easily customizable and each child can make their own, which makes this great for children’s parties!

Walking Tacos

I have people ask me all the time about blogging…

Do you cook all the time? It feels like I do!

So you don’t sell anything…? No, I develop recipes and supply Pinterest with content.

What do you like most about blogging? That’s easy. Cooking. If I could have someone do everything else the cleaning, the shopping, the photographing, the editing, the writing, well, I like writing sometimes, I would give all that up and just develop recipes. Sometimes I like photography; sometimes I hate it. Likewise with all the other components of blogging, but I always love cooking.

Walking Tacos

I do love to cook.

Sometimes, I cook recipes that take hours, like Twix Bars Cinnamon Rolls and Amaretto Pound Cake. Sometimes I cook simple meals like these Walking Tacos or some people call them Tacos in a Bag.

My boys love these Walking Tacos. I like them because we can each customize each bag with our favorite toppings, making them perfect for little people’s parties. Lincoln likes just the meat and cheese. Big Daddy likes everything: the meat, chips, cheese, salsa, olives, tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. His bag is full!

Another way to serve this would be to add chili and cheese. I used to love the Frito Chili Pie from Sonic. Did you ever have those? Serving it in a bag is just fun for the kids, and food should be fun. This would also be fun to serve at a kid’s birthday party or sleepover!

First is the recipe for the Taco Seasoning. Of course, you can purchase the seasoning mix envelope if you want. I have all the seasonings in my pantry, so I find it just as easy to mix it really quickly!

Okay, now for the Walking Tacos recipe. (I just like to say that Walking Tacos, Walking Tacos…like, do you get the image of a taco walking, too? Food commercials used to have characters like the Kool-Aid man, Mr. Peanut, and the Pillsbury Doughboy.)

  1. Just for clarification….you don’t really mean 4 cups of onions, do you?? Maybe 1/4 cup??

  3. The walking tacos remind me of frito pie. We used to eat frito pie all the time at the ball park when my brothers and I played ball. Now I just toss some fritos on a plate and top with chili and cheese…no bag needed LOL.

  4. What a great and fun recipe Paula! Love tacos and these sound awesome – love all of the toppings in here 🙂

    1. I’ve made them with both taco meat and chili and I like them both. my boys like tacos so I end up doing them more. It’s fun and they’ll eat more so I make them quite often.

  6. Too fun, down here we call those Frito Pies. I thought it was the weirdest thing to serve it in the bag, but it totally makes sense. Love that you added all the toppings in yours, totally my kind of taco. 🙂 Great recipe Paula!

  7. This recipe brings back memories! When I was a little girl, this is how Frito pie was served at the little burger joint in my home town. It just had the Fritos, chili, cheese , and onions, but same serving bowl…lol. This sounds delicious as well, definitely have to try it. Thanks !

    1. Thank you. I do Frito pies like this too. I’ll be honest, I love a Frito chili pie! This makes dinner fun and sometimes it’s the only way I can get my picky boys to eat!
