20 Minute Tortellini Pasta Carbonara

Ingredients

  • 19- ounce package fresh cheese tortellini
  • 6 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 10.8- ounce steam fresh package broccoli
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream half and half or light cream can be used
  • parmesan cheese
  • 3 tablespoons fresh chopped basil plus extra for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cok tortellini according to package directions. Drain and reserve 1/2 cup pasta water.
  2. Cook bacon until crisp. Drain then chop.
  3. Heat broccoli according to package directions. Set aside.
  4. Leave approximately 2 tablespoon bacon drippings in the pan. Add garlic and cook on medium for 1 minute or until fragrant. 
  5. Add broccoli, stir.
  6. Add bacon, stir.
  7. Add pasta, cream, and pasta water to the pan. Stir and simmer 2 to 3 minutes.
  8. Add parmesan and basil. Serve
