Preheat the oven to 375°F. Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and spread it evenly in a 7×12-inch baking dish, sheet pan, or another pan with sides.
3 tablespoons butter
Place the rolls over the butter. Cut a chunk out of the rolls about ⅔s down but not completely through the bottom of the rolls. You'll want it large enough to hold about one tablespoon of the peanut butter mixture.
12 pack Hawaiian sweet rolls
Beat the room-temperature cream cheese, peanut butter, and granulated sugar until smooth. Using two small spoons, fill the crevice with the mixture. Then, with the back of one of the spoons, create a well in the mixture to hold the jelly.
Stir the jelly, spoon about 1 teaspoon of the jelly on top of the peanut butter in the well you made.
Bake the rolls, uncovered at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
Allow the rolls to cool just a couple of minutes before serving. The jelly will be runny while it's hot.
Garnish with chopped peanuts. You can drizzle a glaze over the top if you want, I opted not to. ( For a glaze, whisk 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 to 3 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk), and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Drizzle over rolls.)
¼ cup salted peanuts
Serve warm. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They'll keep 3 to 4 days.
