When you want something more substantial than cereal or toast, this Bagel with Egg, Prosciutto, and Garlic Butter is hearty and comforting. Every layer adds flavor, from the toasted bagel and garlic herb butter to the rich egg, cheddar cheese, and savory cured meats.
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. You can also use a toaster oven or an Air fryer if preferred.
Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a blender, combine the garlic, parsley, butter, oregano, paprika, and a pinch of salt. Blend until you achieve a smooth, creamy mixture.
1 medium garlic clove, ½ teaspoon dried oregano, ½ teaspoon paprika, A few sprigs of fresh parsley, Salt, 1 and ½ tablespoons butter
Assemble the Bagels: Spread the garlic butter evenly over the top of each bagel. Layer each bagel with a slice of cheddar cheese, followed by a slice of Italian salami, and then a slice of prosciutto. (This will go on top of the bagel.)
Add the Eggs: Carefully make an indentation in the center of the cheese, prosciutto, and salami on each bagel to hold the egg. Crack an egg into each hole, allowing the egg white to spread slightly. Don't worry if some of the egg white spills over. (See notes)
4 large eggs
Bake: Sprinkle each bagel with a bit of paprika and salt. Place the bagels on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 13-16 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the prosciutto is golden brown and crispy.
Serve: Once baked, remove the bagels from the oven and let them cool for 2-4 minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Serve with Skillet potatoes and/or fresh fruit. You can slice the bagels and layer the ingredients for a sandwich instead of putting them on top. For this method, slice the bagel and spread butter on both sides. Toast, then layer the cheese, salami, and prosciutto on the bagel. Cook the eggs in a skillet to your preference and layer them on the sandwiches. Fried eggs work especially well for this sandwich. You can eat the sandwiches or eat as is. The heat from the egg will melt the cheese.
