Sausage Egg Roll Skillet

My family and I have enjoyed Chicken Egg Rolls Bowls so much I have started making the recipe using different protein and ingredients. It’s just so good. It’s quick and easy and everyone loves it. I make it almost every week in some form.

Spoon full of sausage and cabbage.

  • Olive Oil.
  • Ground Sausage.
  • Yellow Onion, diced.
  • Garlic.
  • Coleslaw Mix.
  • Soy Sauce.
  • Teriyaki Sauce.
  • Ground Ginger.
  • Red Pepper Flakes.
  • Green Onions, thinly sliced (green part only).
  • Sesame Seeds, toasted.

Tips and substitutions

  • I used regular ground sausage but if you want more heat, you could use a spicy ground sausage or add more red pepper flakes.
  • As well, you can substitute ground beef, ground chicken or ground turkey.
  • The coleslaw mix I bought had green cabbage and carrots in it, but other varieties work well too. Alternatively, you could shred cabbage and carrots yourself.
  • Furthermore, try adding purple cabbage, broccoli, or bell peppers.
  • Liquid aminos are healthier than soy sauce, but if you don’t want to purchase liquid aminos for the small amount used in this recipe, by all means, use soy sauce or low sodium soy sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in a pan or in the microwave.

What is egg roll skillet or egg roll bowl?

It’s the filling of the mixture that’s inside an egg roll. It’s an unconstructed egg roll. As well, because there is no wrapper, that cuts down the total carbs in the recipe.

Are vegetables traditional in egg rolls?

Yes, there are usually cabbage, carrots, and green onions.

Can I make this beforehand and reheat it?

Yes, absolutely. In fact, to me it’s better after it sits an while. That lets all the flavor meshed together.
