Bailey’s Banana Smoothie is a boozy frozen adult milkshake recipe that will cool you off on these hot summer days! What better way to waste the dog days of summer than with a frozen concoction?

This grown-up chocolate shake is an adult twist on an old-fashioned favorite with Irish cream, half & half, and a banana makes a cool treat.

Bailey\'s Banana Smoothie

Maybe it’s this hot, humid Southern weather, but I have been craving milkshakes this week. Normally, I’m not an ice cream or milkshake crave-er. Normally, I don’t make a cocktail at 4 p.m.

….but, this is healthy, right?

I mean, it does have a banana in it!!!

Bailey’s Banana Smoothie

This boozy milkshake is the perfect sweet treat for adults during the hot and humid summer months.

This milkshake is filled with one of my favorites, Bailey’s Irish cream. If you like Bailey’s Irish Cream, also referred to simply as Bailey’s, you will like Baileys Mudslide and Bailey’s Peppermint Martini.

This drink is subtle. You can’t really taste the alcohol. If you want to taste the liquor, you may want to add vodka for a stronger cocktail.

The simplicity of this cocktail is part of the charm of it. Who wants to spend a lot of time making cocktails? Bailey's Banana Smoothie

  • Ice
  • Bailey’s Irish Cream. Traditional or light.
  • Half & half or milk. Half and half or heavy cream will be richer.
  • 1 medium banana chopped into chunks. The riper the banana is the sweeter it will be. You can also add a frozen banana to your drink. It will be thicker if you do. Click over and read How to Freeze Bananas for Smoothies.

You can also add a splash of Kahlua for a coffee flavor.

Method

Furthermore, the simplicity of this cocktail is part of the charm of it. Who wants to spend a lot of time making cocktails? I want to spend time drinking cocktails not making them.

Serve this smoothie ‘just because’, for brunch, as a signature cocktail, or for dessert. For dessert, it’s really good served with Oreos. 😋

Do you need a kid-friendly drink?

If you prefer to make this non-alcoholic (but I don’t know why you would) omit the Irish cream and add three tablespoons of chocolate syrup.
