Chocolate Pecan Sandies Secret Kiss Cookies
If you’re not familiar with Pecan Sandies they are a simple vanilla shortbread cookie with crushed pecans in the dough. Most often, they’re rolled in confections sugar and look much like a snowball. Pecan Sandies were popular in the 50s and 60s most often showing up on cookie trays at Christmas. You may know them as Mexican Wedding Cookies, Russian Teacakes, Wedding Cookies, or Pecan Sandies.
Some people may say that Pecan Sandies and Mexican Wedding Cookies are different, but around the area where I live, they are the same recipe.
I based this recipe on the basic Pecan Sandie. However, I wanted to make these cookies different and really special. Therefore, I added cocoa powder to the dough and made cookie chocolate. As well, I hid a chocolate kiss inside!
Chocolate Pecan Sandies Secret Kiss Cookies
This cookie bakes beautifully and is two to three bites in size. This way, each bite is filled with the luscious chocolate hiding in the center.
Additionally, you could make a glaze or roll them in confectioners’ sugar. To be honest, I was so excited to try one, I forgot all about the glaze. They really don’t need it.
There’s something extra special about an innocent, ordinary-looking cookie on the outside but one bite in it greets you with a luscious surprise on the inside!
