Serving suggestions

These flavorful meatballs are great alone but they’re also good with sauce. Isn’t everything good with a nice sauce? Try Burger Sauce, fry sauce, Comeback sauce, Remoulade, Alabama white BBQ sauce, Lulu’s sauce, and honey mustard. I like them all!

For a party, we like these meatballs with chicken pakora, Nashville hot cauliflower bites, whipped feta, and Memphis Blues martini or a bourbon drink.

For a meal, we like these meatballs with a salad, on hoagie rolls, or with rice or quinoa.

Jalapeno Popper Meatballs FAQ

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Absolutely! While cheddar cheese adds its distinctive flavor, you can experiment with other cheeses like pepper jack for an extra kick or mozzarella for a milder taste.

How spicy are these meatballs?

The level of spiciness largely depends on how many jalapenos you add and whether you remove the seeds (which contain most of the heat). Adjust the amount of jalapenos to suit your spice tolerance.

Can I prepare these meatballs ahead of time?

Yes, you can! Prepare the meat mixture and form the meatballs in advance, then refrigerate until you’re ready to cook. This makes them an excellent option for parties or gatherings.

Can I bake these meatballs in an oven instead of using an air fryer?

Absolutely. While the air fryer gives a nice crispness, you can bake these meatballs in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until they’re cooked through.
