Gnocchi Mac n Cheese

- 1 pound gnocchi
- 2 Tablespoon butter
- 2 teaspoon garlic finely chopped
- 1 Tablespoon self-rising flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 cup cheddar
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup Parmigiana Reggiano
- 1 Tablespoon butter
- 1/2 cup panko
Instructions
- Cook one package gnocchi according to package. Drain.
- Toast panko in 1 Tablespoon melted butter until lightly browned.
Make the cheese sauce:
- Melt 2 Tablespoon butter in a saucepan. Whisk in 1 Tablespoon flour and cook 2 minutes, do not brown. Add milk. Bring to a boil, whisking constantly. After it comes to a boil, turn off and add cheese; stir until cheese melts. Add mustard, salt, and pepper to taste. Pour over gnocchi.
- Sprinkle toasted panko and Parmigiana Reggiano on top and cook in at 375° oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden.

My daughter (who came home from college for the weekend) was just saying she wanted some “real” mac and cheese ….. this looks even better. I am going to have to try this one (of course I have everything BUT the gnocchi)
