I’ve been a little cobbler crazy lately. I made Caramel Cobbler and Pecan Cobbler recently and had to send them away so I would devour all of them by myself!  I could too. They’re just so dang good.

My plan for Thanksgiving is to put this in the oven when everyone gets here. By the time we finish dinner, this Snickerdoodle Cobbler will be ready and I’ll serve it hot with good vanilla ice cream. How does that sound?

Snickerdoodle Cobbler

If you enjoy the flavor in Snickerdoodle cookies, you’ll love this cobbler. It has the same wonderful, warm cinnamon notes.

This is a ‘dump’ type cobbler. You basically layer everything in a 9×13 inch pan. I don’t recommend cooking it in a smaller pan. Butter and brown sugar combine and cook into a rich caramel sauce.

I recommend using real butter in this recipe. It takes real butter to make a good caramel sauce. I have not tested it with margarine. I also use self-rising flour; it’s just convenient and easy and that’s what this dessert is all about.

This is one of my most favorite, if not the favorite, desserts. It’s just a bonus that it’s crazy easy to make!

I may be missing something ( I am not a very good baker) What ingredients and how much do you use to make the caramel sauce? and when it says add flavoring is that the vanilla extract? I know this is a well detailed recipe but my head has it jumbled lol. I never knew I liked snickerdoodle until this week! There is a lady who you can order warm meals from once a week and this was the desert I ate the whole thing and didn’t share with anyone!! Please help me unjumble this easy recipe so I can try it!! and thank you so much!!

      1. melt the butter in your pan in the oven
      2. mix the flour, sugar, milk, vanilla extract (that’s the flavoring) and cinnamon together in a bowl.
      3. Pour this flour mixture over the butter in the pan. do not stir it, just pour it on top of the butter.
      4. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top of this batter and do not stir it,
      5. Carefully pour the hot water over the ingredients in the pan. do not stir.
      that’s it
      bake it
it creates the sauce from the butter, brown sugar and hot water
don’t over think it, it is really really simple
it’s supposed to be runny and gooey, not dry

Hi, Paula! I just came across your recipe and am excited to try it! One question… can you melt the butter in a saucepan and pour it into the 9×13 baking dish, and then add the other ingredients? Putting the actual baking pan you’ll be using in the oven to melt the butter, while still having steps to go in the recipe, sounds dangerous to me. I’m a klutz and afraid to get burned! Does it make a difference if you just add the melted butter to the pan rather than heat the entire pan to melt the butter? Thank you!

You can add the melted butter to the pan rather than melt the butter in the pan. I guess I started doing this for less clean up. 😉 You way is probably safer.

Yes, but then it would just be a peach, blueberry or blackberry cobbler. My point was to have a non-fruit cobbler.

Is the brown sugar supposed to be mixed in with the batter? All the recipe says is to mix in “sugar” then sprinkle the brown sugar on top…

I made this tonight & it was so runny. It did not turn golden brown after 35 minutes so I left it in the hoping that it would come together & it did not. I had a awesome smelling kitchen but burnt goop in my pan 🙁

Cobblers are not meant to be crispy or chewy. All cobblers are supposed to be gooey (with a consistency similar to oatmeal), which is perfectly okay because there aren’t any eggs that need to be fully cooked!

I halved the recipe and made it in an 8×8 pan for my Bible study. It worked really well. When only one girl showed up, we ended up canceling the Bible study, so my husband and I devoured the entire pan. My husband is extrememly picky about desserts, but now he’s begging me to make another batch tonight! So good!

As a substitute for 1-1/2 cups self-rising flour,

Place 2-1/4 teaspoons baking powder and 3/4 teaspoon salt in a measuring cup.
Add all-purpose flour to measure 1 cup.
Combine with an additional 1/2 cup all-purpose flour.
