I have made this several times and it never fails to be absolutely beautiful and delicious! Put over vanilla or butter pecan ice cream and people will absolutely love it! Most people have never heard of it, so it becomes a new fave!

Snickerdoodle Cobbler

I have been enjoying making cobbler lately. Presently, I made Caramel Cobbler and Pecan Cobbler recently and had to send them away so I would devour all of them by myself! I could too. They’re just so dang good.

My plan for Thanksgiving is to put this in the oven when everyone gets here. By the time we finish dinner, this Snickerdoodle Cobbler will be ready and I’ll serve it hot with good vanilla ice cream. How does that sound?

Snickerdoodle Cobbler

Snickerdoodle Cobbler

If you enjoy the flavor in Snickerdoodle cookies, you’ll love this cobbler. It has the same wonderful, warm cinnamon notes.

This is a ‘dump’ type cobbler. You basically layer everything in a 9×13 inch pan. I don’t recommend cooking it in a smaller pan. Butter and brown sugar combine and cook into a rich caramel sauce.

I recommend using real butter in this recipe. It takes real butter to make a good caramel sauce. I have not tested it with margarine. I also use self-rising flour; it’s just convenient and easy and that’s what this dessert is all about.

This is one of my most favorite, if not the favorite, desserts. It’s just a bonus that it’s so very easy to make!

I don’t know what is better! The fun of making the silly thing, or EATING it! This is magic, I was cracking up at the pour the water over it stage. Too funny. I knew it worked because I shared it with a friend, who promptly made it and it was FABULOUS! So, now I am making one for my boss.. her birthday tomorrow. Thanks so much for such a fun and tasty recipe! This is a keeper for sure!

Not sure what went wrong, but this one was a huge disappointment! It ended up like hard, dense, oatmeal underneath watery syrup. Almost enedible ☹️ I followed instructions exactly and can’t figure out why mine didn’t turn out.

Maybe you used all purpose flour instead of self rising? I just did this and it turned out kind of like you’re saying. I made it again, though, with the modifications to turn all purpose into self rising, and it turned out perfectly.

  2. this looks delicious. I want to make it for an occasion so I’m wondering if it’s in a 9X13 why does it say it only serves 6 to 8 people

  3. Home made ice cream would be awesome. There are many recipes for no churn ice cream that are very tasty. Will be making this soon.

  4. I came across your Peach Pecan Cobbler recipe and I’m a little like you in that I just Love, Love, Love reading recipes. I was so intrigued by the thought of pouring hot water over brown sugar and a batter that I had to try it because the idea sounded so far-fetched. Well, it was a sure hit!!! My daughter-in law just texted me that it was off the chain. That a crust actually emerges from beneath water is astounding!!! Can’t wait to try this one!!!! 🙂 Thank you so much for these posts. Now I’m a fan.

Made this for thanksgiving dinner and followed it to a T except the only pan i had was 11″x7″. It was delicious! Ooey gooey and perfect with ice cream. Everyone loves it and will make it again !

  7. I may be missing something ( I am not a very good baker) What ingredients and how much do you use to make the caramel sauce? and when it says add flavoring is that the vanilla extract? I know this is a well detailed recipe but my head has it jumbled lol. I never knew I liked snickerdoodle until this week! There is a lady who you can order warm meals from once a week and this was the desert I ate the whole thing and didn’t share with anyone!! Please help me unjumble this easy recipe so I can try it!! and thank you so much!!

    1. 1. melt the butter in your pan in the oven
      2. mix the flour, sugar, milk, vanilla extract (that’s the flavoring) and cinnamon together in a bowl.
      3. Pour this flour mixture over the butter in the pan. do not stir it, just pour it on top of the butter.
      4. Sprinkle the brown sugar on top of this batter and do not stir it,
      5. Carefully pour the hot water over the ingredients in the pan. do not stir.
      that’s it
      bake it
it creates the sauce from the butter, brown sugar and hot water
don’t over think it, it is really really simple
it’s supposed to be runny and gooey, not dry

      1. Thank you! From the looks I truelly was over thinking it! Thank you again this break down is for SURE eany enough! I WILL be trying it this weekend! Stay tuned for results lol

      2. Hi, Paula! I just came across your recipe and am excited to try it! One question… can you melt the butter in a saucepan and pour it into the 9×13 baking dish, and then add the other ingredients? Putting the actual baking pan you’ll be using in the oven to melt the butter, while still having steps to go in the recipe, sounds dangerous to me. I’m a klutz and afraid to get burned! Does it make a difference if you just add the melted butter to the pan rather than heat the entire pan to melt the butter? Thank you!

      3. You can add the melted butter to the pan rather than melt the butter in the pan. I guess I started doing this for less clean up. 😉 You way is probably safer.

My daughter made this for my husband and I last week. To say it was delicious is most definitely an understatement! Not only does it taste heavenly, it also leaves the house with the wonderful scent of Fall.

  9. I was looking for a Pumpkin Snickerdoodle Cobbler recipe when I ran across your recipe. I think that your recipe looks heavenly! 😉 I’m definitely trying this one!

  10. I made this today, came out perfect. Use alot of sugar, but we enjoyed it with ice cream.

  11. I made this today to take to a church function. First, it is so easy. Second, it made my house smell awesome! Third, I brought home an empty dish! Everyone loved it! Definitely a keeper. Thank you for a delicious recipe!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I’m so happy it was a hit, now you’ll need to make yourself one. 🙂 Have a great rest of the day.

    1. Yes, but then it would just be a peach, blueberry or blackberry cobbler. My point was to have a non-fruit cobbler.

  12. Is the brown sugar supposed to be mixed in with the batter? All the recipe says is to mix in “sugar” then sprinkle the brown sugar on top…

      1. Oh good, I got worried when I went back and reread the directions! Thanks so much it smells amazing right now! 16 minutes left of baking.
