Chocolate Gravy is a Southern classic for breakfast, brunch, or dessert. It’s a rich and buttery chocolate sauce that’s best served warm over hot biscuits!

Chocolate Gravy

If you haven’t had chocolate gravy before, you are in for a real treat. This is a sweet gravy that’s silky smooth, sweet, and rich. It tastes like Chocolate Pudding Pie. Have you ever eaten the filling for a chocolate pudding pie?

My husband loves it. He was brought up on this southern breakfast food that his grandmother made. We tweaked her chocolate gravy recipe.

My boys will perform circus tricks for this treat – seriously!! They like it best with warm buttermilk biscuits or chocolate biscuits. However, I prefer it in a bowl. By itself. No biscuit. Saving calories. Straight chocolate. (Hey, don’t judge – I ran 8 miles this a.m.)

  1. 5 stars
What a deliciously decadent breakfast! We made biscuits and this chocolate gravy for weekend guests. What a hit! Thank you!

  2. I have never heard of this but would like to try it. I assume that “cocoa” means unsweetened, powdered cocoa. Is that correct?
