I thought when I started this blog that I wanted it to be about my passion for cooking. I have realized that I actually have a greater passion. That passion is running; I love running with every cell in my body. Furthermore, I run because I want to, not because I have to. I don’t like to race and I don’t really like to run with anyone. Finally, I just like to get out there and go. With every step, I take the cobwebs, stress, and junk that’s in my head goes away little by little.
Believe me, I’ve asked myself many times ‘why do I do it’? Like this morning – ‘why am I running 5.5 miles in the pouring rain?’ or ‘Why am I out here when it’s 28 degrees and my feet are frozen?’ or ‘Why don’t I stop, my legs are numb?’ … I run for fun. As well, I run to stay healthy. And, I run to stay sane.
Running gives me personal satisfaction; a sense of accomplishment. It helps me focus, clears my head, and reduces stress. Running makes me feel Tough, Determined, Confident.
When I run, I’m in my happy place.
If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run. ~John Bingham
